Who We Are

Metro Manila Pride is a volunteer-managed, non-partisan, and not-for-profit organization registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as Metro Manila LGBTQ+ Pride, Inc. Our aim is to create safe, informative, educational, affirming, and empowering spaces for LGBTQIA+ Filipinos. We work towards a future that recognizes and respects the rights of LGBTQIA+ persons to a dignified life without discrimination and prejudice. We organize the longest running and largest Pride demonstration in Southeast Asia.

What We Do

Pride Season

To extend the Pride high throughout June, we created several official June Pride Events. They are the following:

  • All Families Day (All Fam): A day of fun activities and solidarity for the loving and supportive families you are born into and the ones you choose.
  • Pride Speaks: An afternoon of short talks about impactful ideas and stories from LGBTQIA+ people and allies.
  • Pride March & Festival: The biggest safe space in Metro Manila and the longest running in Southeast Asia.

Discussion spaces

We host regular discussion spaces that talk about specific issues that impact the community. We do this online and offline with the following activities:

  • HOHOLs (Hang Out, Hang Out Lang): Discussion group meet-ups in Metro Manila. We also try to connect community members with local LGBTQIA+ owned businesses by holding the meet-ups in these establishments when possible.
  • Twitter Parties or Convos: These often become trending topics nationwide. Some of the topics we’ve covered are: living with HIV, bisexuality, being an LBTQ+ woman in the Philippines, rainbow families, pride, and many others. We are also exploring how to bring this online discussion space to other social media platforms.

Expression spaces

We create spaces for LGBTQIA+ stories to be told freely via visual and performing arts. This is achieved through events like:

  • HUBAD: A night of spoken word poetry and monologues about the experiences of LGBTQIA+ people.
  • Queer Arts Festival: A multi-arts festival which features LGBTQIA+ artists using a variety of mediums (music, visual arts, film, etc).

Connecting community members

We provide live coverage of LGBTQIA+ advocacy events (e.g. seminars, research publication launches, etc.) to help bridge the gap regarding accessibility between the affiliated and unaffiliated LGBTQIA+ members of the community.

Popularizing #PassADB and #YestoEquality

The SOGIE Equality Bill (a bill that prohibits discrimination on the basis of SOGIE), has been languishing in Congress for 18 years. To help boost the popularity of the bill and to encourage citizens to participate in the campaign to pass it, we provide live coverage of Congress and Senate deliberations of the ADB. This raises awareness about the bill within and outside the community especially among those who are not affiliated with organizations.”
