What is the Pride March and Festival?

The Metro Manila Pride March and Festival is an annual, open-access Pride event based in Metro Manila, Philippines.

As a public demonstration and expression of joy, the event is both a celebration and a mass protest. Each year, we honor the Filipino LGBTQIA+ community by creating a space that uplifts and emboldens us to gather together to challenge Philippine institutions by calling for radical change. The annual event aims to strengthen a sense of belonging and solidarity among LGBTQIA+ people.

Each year we bring together individuals, organizations, and communities to call not only for equality, but for justice for the LGBTQIA+ community in the Philippines.

How do we come up with the March and Festival campaigns and activities?

01

Study feedback

We start the process by reviewing the feedback we get from the previous March and Festival executions. We also look at the lessons we’ve learned throughout the years and the suggestions brought forward by our volunteers.

02

Consult the community

With the help of community organizations and the wider LGBTQIA+ community, we hold collaborative workshops by way of Community Meetings or CMs. These are iterative workshops where we present ideas and brainstorm on the things we want for the campaign. We hold CMs until we have fully deepened, made intentional, and unified the theme and calls to action for the year’s Pride March and Festival.

03

Establish partnerships

To ensure the success of our activities, we reach out to various institutions and organizations to support us in terms of logistics, staffing, and finances.

04

Publish details

Once all of the execution requirements have been finalized and our partnerships have been secured, we publish the details of the campaign and activities on our official communications channels.
